Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (Minutes, Cheap)

Replacing incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescents gets cheaper every day. Wal-Mart realized that replacing the bulbs just in the ceiling fans at each store would save the company $6 Million in electricity. Your savings may not be as drastic, but you will save money, and you'll have to replace the bulbs a lot less, too. On average, compact fluorescents last 6-10 times the equivalent incandescent bulbs and use about one quarter the energy.

Speaking of Wal-Mart: "In the next 12 months, starting with a major push this month, Wal-Mart wants to sell every one of its regular customers--100 million in all--one swirl bulb." Read How Many Lightbulbs Does it Take to Change the World? One. And You're Looking At It at FastCompany.com.

I mentioned my CFL experiences once before.
